Why Does Shipping Cost So Much?
While Dragonsteel continues to work with carriers to negotiate lower costs, we do not set shipping costs and are required to pay what the carriers charge to send the package. Shipping carriers set shipment prices based on their own operating costs for delivering the package.
Flat rate shipping costs have been calculated based on region and cart total. Shipping prices will only increase to a certain point, after which shipping charges are no longer increased as additional products are added. This helps larger orders ship with less cost to customers.
Books are heavy, and where shipping prices are determined primarily by weight, this means that some shipments may cost more than others. Dragonsteel often pays more than what is charged to customers for shipping and continues pursing all options to reduce the burden felt by fans. This is an ongoing question and is at the forefront of Dragonsteel’s consideration since the goal is to keep shipping costs as low as possible.
Why is FedEx Billing Me?
International shipments are shipped via FedEx. By default, FedEx acts as your broker and initially pays all custom duties, taxes, and fees to get your package to you quickly. However, these fees must still be paid and FedEx will bill you for them at or after delivery. The bill may also include an added brokerage fee from FedEx.
If you wish to self-clear your packages, you will need to research how to do this in your area and work with FedEx and your alternate broker directly. Dragonsteel is not responsible for extra fees and/or taxes that your package may incur due to your country's laws or carrier brokerages.
FedEx Billed Me Incorrectly
If you have already received a bill from FedEx that you believe is in error, you may dispute it by emailing dutytaxdisputes@fedex.com with your invoice number (from the FedEx bill you received) and all relevant information.
Dragonsteel is able to provide a commercial invoice upon request.

Why Do I Have to Pay Customs and Taxes?
Dragonsteel is not able to calculate and charge customs and taxes these at the time of your purchase. Because of this, such fees cannot be included in the shipping costs at the time of purchase.
Dragonsteel is not responsible for extra fees and/or taxes that your package may incur due to your country's laws, including brokerage fees charged by the package carrier to assist in getting your package through customs in a timely manner.
We will ensure that each package is provided with an accurate description of the package's contents and value.
Dragonsteel is unable to assist you with any methods of self-clearing customs or using alternative brokers. However, a commercial invoice can be provided upon request.
